The port of Castellón has reached the historic figure of 200,753,996 tons of goods moved between the years 2015 and 2025, thus consolidating itself as one of the most active ports in the Mediterranean. The main goods moved in this period are linked to liquid bulk, which during this period amount to almost 100 million tons, representing 49.5% of the total. These are followed by goods related to solid bulk (37.8%) and general cargo with 12.4% of the total. “Exceeding 200 million tons is a reflection of the constant effort and the capacity for adaptation of the port of Castellón to market demands,” stated the president of PortCastelló, Rubén Ibáñez.

The expansion of the port
The Port Authority of Castellón continues with its ambitious expansion plan in the southern basin, which will turn the port into the one with the largest available surface area in the entire Mediterranean arc and will allow it to increase goods traffic. Furthermore, this expansion will be connected to the intermodal station under construction, located next to the railway accesses, also under execution. Both infrastructures will be completed in 2026.
