The Technical Commission for the Facilitation and Simplification of Maritime Transport decided to postpone the mandatory entry into force of the Single Maritime Window (Vumar) in the ports located in the Valparaíso Region.

The new date has been set for next November 3, 2025, and it is expected that the platform will be functioning without any errors with all state entities integrated.

The National Association of Ship Agents of Chile (Asonave) considered the decision of the technical commission to be correct. “This adjustment in the calendar reflects a sense of prudence and responsibility, as the system still needs to consolidate its operation to function reliably and without interruptions, especially in a critical stage of the year marked by fruit exports and the start of the cruise season,” stated the president of Asonave, Gonzalo Fernández Alzola.

The head of the organization said that, as a guild, they support the modernization and digitalization of public processes, but it is essential that the mandatory use of Vumar is implemented only when the platform is fully operational.

“We are talking about having real integration of all services, functioning payment systems, 24-hour available technical support, and tested contingency protocols. This additional period provides the opportunity to advance towards that goal,” expressed Fernández.

Furthermore, he explained that Asonave trusts that, before the end of this month – October -, Vumar will be in a position to provide a stable and secure service, aligned with the international standards of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Finally, the president of the National Association of Ship Agents of Chile reiterated its commitment to continue working together with the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications and the different actors in the logistics chain, to have a robust digital single window, which strengthens the competitiveness of Chile’s foreign trade and maintains the country’s image as a reliable partner in the international maritime scene.
