Seaspan and Stantec have announced the completion of a new 272-metre outfitting pier at Vancouver Shipyards, replacing a 1966 timber pier with a modern steel and concrete structure designed for large navy and coast guard vessels. The pier is already supporting outfitting of the Royal Canadian Navy’s Joint Support Ship, HMCS Protecteur, and is built with advanced utilities, heavy load capacity, seismic resilience, and environmental safeguards. Seaspan highlighted the project as a key investment in Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy, while Stantec underscored its role in delivering critical waterfront infrastructure to support national security, sovereignty, and future shipbuilding needs.
