Olt Offshore Lng Toscana, the company controlled by Snam and Igneo Infrastructure Partners that manages the regasification plant located about 22 km off the coast of Livorno, has announced the publication of the available capacity for the new Small Scale Lng service.

The documentation can be consulted in the commercial area of the Olt website: “For the first time in Italy, interested companies will be able to participate in an auction for the assignment of slots dedicated to this service. The auctions will be held on October 29, 2025. A product composed of 12 small scale slots of 7,500 liquid cubic meters will be made available to operators, which will be distributed monthly from November 2025 to November 2026,” a note explained.

Operationally, the small scale service provides for the possibility of loading LNG from the terminal onto small methane carriers that can supply naval units powered by liquefied natural gas directly at sea, or unload the fuel into the coastal deposits of the main Mediterranean ports. Furthermore, the characteristics of the plant will also allow it to receive LNG from small methane carriers to then be regasified and fed into the grid (complementary unloading slots). These slots will be offered in subsequent auctions, once the available regasification capacity has been verified, on an infrannual basis.

“With the publication of the small scale capacity and the start of the first dedicated auctions, Olt takes a further step in the path of growth and diversification of the services offered,” stated Giovanni Giorgi, CEO of Olt. “This initiative – added Giorgi – represents an absolute novelty for our country to the benefit of the development of the LNG supply chain in Italy, which can promote the use of fuels with a lower environmental impact, providing a contribution to the energy transition and the decarbonization of maritime and land transport.”
