The company Janus System has been contracted by Astilleros Armon to develop the Janus maritime security system for the two electric ferries that this shipyard is building for Baleària. Designed by Incat Crowther, they will be named ESPAÑA 2030 and MOROCCO 2030 in reference to the most innovative means of transport for the 2030 Soccer World Cup. The incorporation of the new ships will mean stopping the annual emission of 44,000 equivalent tons of CO2.

The design of the Baleària ships, similar to its last three natural gas fast ferries, will be optimized for the ports of the connected cities. According to the president of Baleària, Adolfo Utor, “this is a pioneering and technologically advanced public-private collaboration project, which will allow us to complete the entire journey for the first time using exclusively electric energy and, therefore, without generating emissions,” and he added that “we take on the challenge of turning the Tarifa-Tánger Ville line into an example of international mobility, modernity, and sustainability,” highlighted the president of Baleària.

The Janus system uses the type 3 charging module. Shipping companies are opting for this method because it optimizes the ship charging operations in an agile, precise, efficient, cost-effective, and highly competitive way. With these two new ships, Janus System exceeds thirty ferries, fast ferries, ro-pax ferries, and ro-ro vessels where it has installed the Janus system, all of them with the type 3 charging module.
