The Port of Iquique is preparing to start the 2025-2026 cruise season, which has initially scheduled 10 port calls.
As usual, to ensure that the experience for passengers and crew is high-level, Empresa Portuaria Iquique led a multisectoral coordination meeting that involved shipping agencies, tour operators, public services such as Sernatur, the Seremi de Transportes y Telecomunicaciones, the Capitanía de Puerto, and the Municipalidad de Iquique, among other actors.
The Municipality will prepare a special welcome for the crew and passengers of the first ships and will coordinate the Centro de Control de Cámaras and the relevant municipal services to verify the urban and operational conditions in the areas that will be part of the City Tour.
“These port calls reaffirm Iquique’s vocation as an attractive tourist destination for cruises. Although this season presents a lower number of ships compared to the previous period, a reflection of the global effects that have affected this industry as indicated by the Corporación de Puertos Conosur, the city maintains its strategic positioning, and these visits are expected to favor the development of tourism and the local economy,” said Rubén Castro, general manager of EPI.
The first ship will be on October 20 with the arrival of the Viking Polaris, followed on the 27th by the Viking Octantis, with 1,200 people on board.
