Equinor has received consent to use the gas export solution from the Troll B facility to the Kvitebjørn gas pipeline, the company said in a statement.

The approval enables the company to link production from Troll B, part of the Troll field in the northern North Sea, to the existing gas export infrastructure.

The Troll field was discovered in 1979, with its initial development plan approved in 1986 and updated in 1990.

Production began in 1995 and has since expanded through several phases, including the start of Troll Phase III in 2021.

The Kvitebjørn field, located in the Tampen area of the North Sea, was discovered in 1994 and began production in 2004.

Equinor ASA is a Norwegian state-owned energy company headquartered in Stavanger. The company operates globally in oil, gas, and renewable energy production and is among the largest offshore operators in the North Sea.

Troll field is one of Norway’s largest offshore gas and oil fields, operated under the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate’s framework. It consists of several phases of development involving platforms Troll A, B, and C, located in the northern North Sea.
