An agreement has been reached on the terms and mechanisms for implementing the first phase of a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, which will lead to the end of the war between Israel and Hamas, the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners, and the entry of aid into the Palestinian enclave, Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Majed Al Ansari announced today via X.

Hamas confirmed that it reached an agreement to end the war in the indirect negotiations in Egypt, which were based on a proposal by US President Donald Trump. The Palestinian Islamist movement calls on the American president and the guarantor countries to ensure that Israel fully implements the ceasefire agreement.

Palestinians and the families of Israeli hostages erupted in frenzied celebrations today following the news of the agreement between Israel and Hamas to end the war in Gaza and the return of all Israeli hostages, both living and dead.

The signing is expected to take place today at 12:00 Israel time and Greece time, the same source noted, while the Israeli security cabinet is scheduled to convene at 17:00 to discuss the agreement.

In the Gaza Strip, the majority of whose 2 million inhabitants have been displaced due to Israeli bombardment, young men began applauding in the devastated streets, despite the fact that Israeli strikes continued in some areas of the Palestinian enclave.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres welcomed the agreement announced by US President Donald Trump that was reached between Israel and Hamas for the first phase of his plan aimed at restoring peace in the Gaza Strip, calling on the parties “to fully adhere to the terms” of it.

“All hostages must be released in a dignified manner. A permanent ceasefire must be ensured. The fighting must stop once and for all (…) The suffering must end,” Mr. Guterres stated in an announcement.
