When SIMAC officially inaugurates its new simulator center in Svendborg on October 31, which is described as one of the most advanced in Northern Europe, it marks a significant boost for Danish maritime education.
The new simulator center houses both Denmark’s only full-scale engine room simulator and state-of-the-art bridge and radio communication simulators.
The new facility gives students the opportunity to train complex ship operations in realistic environments, where the interaction between navigators, engineers, and other maritime professional groups can be practiced under conditions that reflect reality at sea.
“The simulator center strengthens SIMAC’s role as the country’s leading maritime educational institution and contributes to safety, sustainability, and development in the Blue Denmark,” writes SIMAC.
The simulator center has become a reality thanks to support from Dampskibsselskabet NORDEN A/S and D/S Orient’s Fond.
SIMAC is Denmark’s largest maritime educational institution measured by both the number of students and the range of education offered.
The school trains engineers, ship masters and ship officers as well as offers a number of further education courses and programs for the shipping industry.
Over 800 students are affiliated with SIMAC, which has around 150 employees.
