Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) reduced its shipping revenue by 25.9% in the third quarter of 2025, the period ended September 30, as announced by Orient Overseas (International) Limited, after presenting an unaudited operational update.
During this period, the segment’s earnings totaled 2,264.2 million dollars, a figure lower than that recorded in the same period in 2024.
OOCL’s total cargo volume increased by 0.7% and available capacity grew by 4.2%. The overall load factor was 2.8% lower than in the same period in 2024. Meanwhile, the average revenue per TEU decreased by 26.5%, compared to the third quarter of last year.
Transpacific routes totaled 526,032 TEU with a reduction of 4.7%, while Asia – Europe routes totaled 346,001 TEU with a decrease of 0.3%. Transatlantic services completed 137,016 TEU with an increase of 22.8% and Intraasia – Australasia services recorded 938,090 with an improvement of 1.7% in the third quarter.
January – September Period
Between January and September, shipping revenue decreased by 8.3% compared to the same period in 2024. Total cargo volume increased by 4.7% and available capacity increased by 6.7%.
During this period, the overall load factor was 1.5% lower than in the same period in 2024. The average revenue per TEU decreased by 12.4% compared to the same period the previous year.
Transpacific routes totaled 1,583,671 TEU with an increase of 3.8%, while Asia – Europe routes totaled 1,051,980 TEU with a decrease of 0.5%. Transatlantic services completed 420,534 TEU with an increase of 16.9% and Intraasia – Australasia services recorded 2,817,233 with an improvement of 5.6% in the third quarter.
