China State Shipbuilding Corporation Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. (DSIC) Tianjin branch welcomed the first major production milestone after the holiday. On October 10, the No. 15 16000TEU container ship, built by DSIC Tianjin for Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) with full effort and utilizing LNG dual-fuel power, set sail smoothly, officially commencing its sea trial journey.

This ship, as the fourth “two-in-one” sea trial vessel for oil and gas, was laid down on December 19, 2024, and launched on July 11, 2025. It achieved the sea trial milestone 91 days after undocking, with a completeness score of 98, reaching the node 31 days ahead of the annual plan.

Since the project’s inception, DSIC Tianjin has adhered to the core principle of “closely monitoring nodes and efficiently advancing progress.” It fully leveraged its capabilities in scientific coordination and meticulous organization, directly confronting numerous technical challenges and schedule pressures, and went all out to ensure the steady advancement of the shipbuilding schedule.

According to this sea trial plan, the vessel will complete dozens of key test items during the sea trial phase, including main engine running-in, speed measurement, maneuverability testing, unmanned engine room verification, and gas mode operation. The sea trial team will strictly follow the test outline requirements, comprehensively inspect all performance indicators of the ship with a rigorous and detailed attitude, ensure the accuracy and reliability of every piece of test data, and provide a scientific basis for the subsequent optimization, debugging, and final delivery of the vessel.
