On October 11, Matson Navigation Company issued a “Customer Advisory” in response to the policy announced by China’s Ministry of Transport regarding the imposition of a “special port fee” on US vessels.
In the statement, Matson indicated that its vessels will be subject to the new regulations from the Chinese side, but the company currently has no plans to adjust the existing China-US express service schedules. Matson will continue to provide the fastest and most stable express service from China and the Transpacific market to the United States.
It is noteworthy that Matson explicitly stated that it looks forward to continuing to provide high-quality services to customers in the future and will not impose any new additional surcharges on customers due to this fee.
