The Port of Castellón closed September with 1,807,129 tons moved, representing a growth of 21.3% compared to the same month last year, and is the best monthly result in the last four years.
In the cumulative annual total, PortCastelló increased by 3.7% and has already approached 14 million tons moved between January and September.
The increase extends to all types of traffic, with container movement particularly standing out, at 24%. This is followed by liquid bulk (+6.3%), general cargo (+5.1%), and solid bulk (+1%).
By type of cargo, liquid bulk represents 50.5% of the total, solid bulk 42.8%, and general cargo 6.7%.
Crude oil remains the main cargo moved, with 4 million tons so far this year and an increase of 12%. It is followed by feldspar, with 2.5 million tons (+12%), and other goods such as gasolines, fuel oil, cement, clays, kaolin, coke, diesel, and tiles.
The main countries with which the port maintains commercial relations are Turkey, Morocco, Guyana, Canada, Egypt, Romania, and Italy.
The president of the Port Authority of Castellón, Rubén Ibáñez, emphasized that “these results confirm the good health of the port and the effectiveness of the commercial strategy we are promoting, focused on recovering markets that had been lost, such as Algeria or Morocco, and on consolidating new logistical routes.”
Ibáñez also underlined that “PortCastelló is growing again with a firm step, moving from hope to reality. This sustained increase demonstrates that the port is prepared to face the challenges of the future with solidity, diversification, and a clear vision of service to the productive fabric and the economy of Castellón.”
“Our goal is for this growth not to be cyclical, but structural, supported by the improvement of land connectivity, the expansion of the southern dock, and the commitment to sustainability as pillars of competitiveness,” concluded Ibáñez.
