The company was awarded two gold awards for the Organization’s Decarbonization Strategy in the categories “ESG Strategy” and “Operational Transformation & Sustainable Development”, while the third gold award was awarded for the Microclimate Prediction Network in the category “Sustainable Technology”.

PCT’s Decarbonization Strategy is based on real data and scientific tools, such as the Marginal Abatement Cost (MAC) analysis, which allows the evaluation of each action based on cost, environmental benefit, and strategic prioritization. Thus, the company accurately maps which measures yield the greatest result in relation to the business’s dynamic targets, already achieving a 36% reduction in emissions from the base year 2022. The SMART Microclimate Prediction Network, consisting of 28 meteorological stations utilizing Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, enhances resilience and safety in the workplace, providing real-time forecasts and timely alerts for microclimate conditions.

Nina Argyropoulou, Deputy Manager, Public Relations & Sustainability Department of PCT, stated upon receiving the awards: “Every step brings us closer to a substantial goal: to contribute to a greener and more sustainable future, thus contributing to the transformation and preservation of the port of Piraeus as a leading maritime gateway to the Mediterranean and Europe.”

Through the awarding of good practices and innovative strategies, the Hellenic Responsible Business Awards highlight the power of collaboration and sustainable development as levers of progress. With these distinctions, PCT confirms its commitment to sustainable operation and innovation, emerging as a model for ESG implementation in port infrastructure, actively contributing to the establishment of Piraeus as the Smart & Green Maritime Hub of the Mediterranean.

PCT S.A. (Piraeus Container Terminal S.A.) is a company established in Greece, a subsidiary of Cosco Shipping Ports Limited, a leading global container terminal operator in the world ranking.

Having completed 15 years of successful presence and operation, it continues to invest in an emblematic program of over €600 million, creating more than 2,500 direct jobs and enhancing the country’s economic and social prosperity.
