The merchants of Ilha do Mel are already prepared to receive the tourists from the luxury cruise ship Scenic Eclipse. There are 189 crew members and 202 passengers, Europeans and North Americans, who have already passed through São Sebastião, on the coast of São Paulo, and will proceed to São Francisco do Sul, in Santa Catarina.
“This is the second docking of the Scenic Eclipse near Ilha do Mel, showing the interest of foreign tourists in the beauties of the Paraná coast. At the request of the residents of Ilha do Mel, we have already provided two free English courses to improve service for cruise passengers,” said the CEO of Portos do Paraná, Luiz Fernando Garcia.
“The arrival of tourists from the cruise ship represents employment and income for the population of the Coast. This is a huge gain for the region and all the municipalities of the Coast,” said the State Secretary of Tourism, Leonaldo Paranhos.
Ilha do Mel is one of the main tourist spots in Paraná, in addition to being a Conservation Unit intended for the protection of natural ecosystems, such as mangroves, restingas, coastal swamps, and caxetais.
The Scenic Eclipse is 168 meters long, 22 meters wide, and has 114 cabins with a balcony. The vessel also has a gym, beauty salon, spa, yoga room, ten restaurants, eight bars, and several lounges.
“The ships that dock at the Port of Paranaguá, which has a strong structure for receiving cruises, bring tourists, often international ones. These tourists return to their origin and recommend Paraná as a destination. This is what we work on in tourism promotion,” said Irapuã Cortes, CEO of Viaje Paraná, the state tourism promotion agency.
