Miami – Carnival Corporation and the Miami Heat basketball team have announced a joint donation of 1 million dollars to support recovery and relief efforts in Jamaica, which was hard hit by Hurricane Melissa.
The donation is intended to provide long-term support for the recovery of the Caribbean island, devastated by the Category 5 hurricane.
Josh Weinstein, CEO of Carnival, emphasized the company’s deep bond with Jamaica, stating: “We need to support its communities now more than ever.” The Miami Heat added that “in Florida, we know the destruction that a Category 5 storm can bring.”
The partnership between the two Florida-based giants aims to provide crucial aid at a time of great need for the island.
