The Port Authority of Vigo has participated in a large-scale emergency drill that took place in the vicinity of the company Wofco-Fandicosta in Domaio (Moaña). The main objective of the exercise was to verify the efficiency of the activation and coordination procedures between the different organizations involved. The simulated scenario involved an uncontrolled fire with abundant smoke, which led to the evacuation of the injured.
The Port Authority of Vigo will evaluate together with the other participants the key points verified, including response times, inter-institutional coordination, the accessibility of emergency routes, and the response to the chemical leak and the drift of pollution in the maritime environment. “It is essential to improve our coordination and agility in the face of any emergency scenario, whatever it may be, like the one that happened in May 2016 at the facilities of the frigorífico,” stated the president of Vigo, Carlos Botana.
