On October 30, Xinjiangzhou Ship Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Xinjiangzhou”) held a steel-cutting ceremony for two 12,000 DWT multi-purpose vessels built for the German shipowner Candler Schiffahrt GmbH.
The two 12,000 DWT multi-purpose vessels that commenced construction have an overall length of 139.95 meters, a breadth of 18.00 meters, a depth of 11.20 meters, and a design draft of 7.95 meters. They adopt an aft-engine-room, single-shaftline, and controllable-pitch propeller design. The vessels will be classed by Bureau Veritas (BV) and constructed strictly in accordance with BV rules. It is worth mentioning that this vessel type is a new generation of green, low-carbon, and environmentally friendly multi-purpose vessels independently developed and designed by the first-class domestic design institute – Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute. It features high waterway adaptability, strong cargo capacity, and excellent economic efficiency.
The shipowner company, Candler Schiffahrt GmbH, has been deeply involved in the bulk and breakbulk cargo shipping sector for over thirty years. Its operational areas cover the Atlantic, Mediterranean, Africa, South America, and the Caribbean Sea, making it a highly reputable and trusted enterprise in the industry. The two 12,000 DWT multi-purpose vessels that commenced construction mark the company’s first newbuilding project in China.
