The Port of Chancay worked on the unloading of 3,060 vehicles that arrived at the Peruvian facility aboard the Cheng Kang Kou, a Liberian-flagged vehicle carrier that was delivered to the shipping company Cosco Shipping in July 2025 and uses dual-fuel liquefied natural gas (LNG) for its propulsion.

The maritime terminal stated that “with the arrival of the vessel Cheng Kang Kou, we received 3,060 vehicles, of which 2,150 were managed in transshipment operations, demonstrating our capacity to handle large volumes and a wide diversity of brands and types of cargo.”

“Thanks to our modern infrastructure and large operational yard, in Chancay we are establishing ourselves as one of the ports in South America capable of accommodating more than 3 thousand units simultaneously, setting a new standard in efficiency and logistical connectivity. Chancay is no longer a promise, it is the beginning of the new Pacific hub,” the port emphasized.

The vessel is 199.9 meters long, 38 meters wide and has a capacity to transport 7,500 vehicles. According to the shipping company, the vessel can reduce the emission of polluting gases by 27% during its operation, thanks to the use of the alternative resource.
