With a meeting held at Terminal Pacífico Sur, the concessionaire of Terminal 1 of the Port of Valparaíso, ONE for Woman, TPS and Wista Chile addressed the potential of female leadership within the maritime-port sector. On this occasion, various aspects of institutional work and the exchange of good practices related to inclusion and gender equity in the industry were reviewed.
Helga Timmermann, Pricing Manager for Latin America at Ocean Network Express, commented that “the activity was about connecting good practices in leadership and to promote that ability of women to lead in the maritime industry. I was very happy with the activity, because good practices were shared and we are all aligned behind the same objective of achieving new opportunities and, also, growing companies and our careers.”
Raquel Meza, president of the Mascarona Foundation and of Wista Chile, stated that “it was a super enriching instance to learn about good practices for work and the promotion of female participation and how this has been led. As president of Wista I was invited to show what we have done in the last four years, where we have worked on the empowerment of women together with the Directorate of Maritime Territory and Merchant Marine, where the Mascarona Foundation promotes Development Goal number 5, which is gender equity for girls and young women in our country, in addition to creating maritime awareness.”
“This activity was organized by ONE for Woman and invited TPS through its Women on Board program to develop a talk about women’s leadership in the maritime-port sector. This talk was given as a conversation in which we continue to empower women in the sector and promote equity and diversity in masculinized environments, also being able to share what TPS has done in terms of incorporating women into the port sector,” added Fernanda Rehbein, deputy manager of Sustainability and Communications at Terminal Pacífico Sur.
