LA SPEZIA – The decree for the awarding of the first of the two lots of work for the construction of the new high-voltage electricity distribution network in the commercial port of La Spezia has been signed. The President of the Port System Authority, Bruno Pisano, signed the awarding decree which authorizes 84 megawatts (MW) of the total 110 MW for the electrification of the La Spezia docks and the construction of the new works provided for by the Port Master Plan. The total investment is 41 million euros, of which 13,288,500 euros are funded by the Green Ports call for proposals.

The project

The work involves the construction, in the Stagnoni area, of an electrical substation for connection to the National Transmission Grid managed by Terna SpA, the underground laying of electrical cables for the distribution of high-voltage energy within the commercial port, and the construction of three transformation stations for the subsequent supply of end users (cold ironing and operational areas).
The contractual deadline for completing all work is 455 consecutive days from the handover of the works, which will be formalized by the end of 2025.

The European tender was awarded by evaluating both the technical and economic offers of the six participants. The judging committee identified the offer from the Consorzio Stabile Research as the best, which indicated the company Guastamacchia SpA of Bari as the executing partner and proposed a 13.00% discount on the base tender amount.

President Pisano commented: “The Authority’s action towards environmental sustainability and the development of the port of La Spezia is proceeding swiftly. The 110 MW overall provided for by the two intervention lots will be delivered progressively and allocated to the electrification of the docks and to the supply of the new operational areas provided for by the Port Master Plan.”

It is recalled that during 2024, the Liguria Region had authorized the construction and operation of the entire energy infrastructure consisting of the connections to the National Transmission Grid, to be carried out by Terna SpA, and the new substation and related electrical lines for the electrification of the port of La Spezia, to be carried out by the Eastern Ligurian Sea Port System Authority.
