In the first nine months of the current year, containerized volumes handled by the Contship Italia group increased overall by 6.1% compared to the same period the previous year, settling at 1.29 million TEU (compared to 1.216 million TEU in the period January – September 2024).

The data contained in the latest quarterly report just released by the parent company Eurokai show both loadings and unloadings increased in La Spezia (+2.6% for ), Salerno (+14.7%) and Ravenna (+10.8%). Construction work continues, including preparatory measures for the start of the Damietta Alliance Container Terminal in Damietta (Egypt). In June 2025, the last five portal cranes for the Damietta Alliance Container Terminal were delivered. Already in the first half of 2025, the process of onboarding and training our Egyptian colleagues was initiated. The start of terminal operations is scheduled for mid-December 2025.

The Contship Italia segment also recorded a better-than-expected performance in the third quarter of 2025. While in our half-year report as of June 30, 2025, we still assumed that the result for the 2025 financial year would be in line with that of the 2024 financial year, we now expect it to slightly exceed it. The main factor for this development is the recovery in handling performance and revenues both in La Spezia and in the intermodal segment. This positive trend is counterbalanced by contractually agreed wage increases and repair works at the east dock of Formelli. The result is also penalized by start-up losses associated with the commencement of operations at the Damietta Alliance Container Terminal.
