DeepOcean and Aker BP enter into long-term strategic agreement
DeepOcean and Aker will focus on 'RemoteFirst' whereby vessel and tool operations can be replaced by more efficient means

DeepOcean AS, a subsidiary of ocean services provider DeepOcean, has entered into a long-term strategic partnership agreement with Norwegian operator Aker BP ending in 2026 with options to extend it for four additional years

DeepOcean will act as Aker’s preferred supplier of subsea operations related to inspection, intervention, repair, survey and emergent operations together with associated onshore engineering and project management services, and supply additional vessel capacity and subsea services that may be required by Aker and its subsea alliance.

Key to the agreement is the development of new technologies. The parties have a joint commitment to co-operate on adopting new technologies, with a focus on ‘RemoteFirst’, whereby conventional vessel and tooling operations can be replaced by more efficient systems.

DeepOcean will lead its part of the work out of its offices in Haugesund and Stavanger, Norway. The company’s commercial director Rolf Ivar Sørdal said, “Having a long-term relationship is a key enabler to achieve operational cost savings, through early engagement in the planning phase, selecting the most efficient work sequences and methods.”

“Developing and implementing new technologies requires joint co-operation over time to capitalise on the efficiencies gained, both in terms of cost savings and greener operations.”

Last year, Aker Solutions, DeepOcean Norway and Solstad Offshore joined forces to create the Windstaller Alliance, a partnership that aims to provide supply, fabrication and marine services to the offshore wind industry and pursue opportunities in the wider offshore renewables market.

The Offshore Support Journal Conference will be held 15 June 2022. Details and tickets can be found here
