The Seville Port Authority (APS) has initiated the processing for the expansion of the Sevitrade and Aldeport port terminals, which will mean nearly 50,000 additional square meters of new logistics developments that will strengthen the competitiveness of the Port of Seville in the south, in the Dársena del Cuarto.

On one hand, Sevitrade has requested to expand its liquid terminal facilities by 30,000 m2 for the construction of new storage tanks for liquid bulk, especially for oil and other goods of interest, and for the provision of an area to optimize truck operations with larger loaders and more scale space. For this, the logistics operator plans to invest USD 11 million and will carry out the work in three phases, until 2027.

On the other hand, Aldeport, whose new terminal was inaugurated at the end of last year, will expand the surface area of its administrative concession by an additional 19,400 m2. There it will build new warehouses dedicated to the logistics of agri-food products and fertilizer. The company, formed by the Portillo and Ership groups, plans to invest around USD 4.4 million.

The Seville Port Authority has published both requests in the Boletín Oficial del Estado announcing the start of the project competition process.

Rafael Carmona, president of the Port Authority, highlighted “the high degree of commitment of the Seville Port Community. Their commitment to offering a quality service is notable, translated into the strong investment to expand and modernize the facilities. Our location within the territory, combined with the high specialization of the logistics operators, consolidates us as the great logistics hub of southern Europe for fertilizer and agribusiness.”

In fact, the Port of Seville is the national leader in fertilizer imports, with a market share of 23%. “In 2024 we were the first port in Spain in fertilizer unloading with nearly 580,000 tons,” added the president.

The announcements were made during the inauguration of the VIII Jornada de Logística Portuaria de Sevilla, which was also attended by Consolación Vera, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development; Pedro García, Operations Director of Puertos del Estado, and more than 250 professionals from the agribusiness and fertilizer sector.
