Communications on tankers and bulk carriers operated by Tankerska Plovidba and Atlantska Plovidba will be upgraded to include three types of constellations for faster connectivity

Tankerska Plovidba and Atlantska Plovidba have upgraded satellite communications and cyber security on their tankers and bulk carriers.

These vessels can now connect with satellites in geostationary orbit through very small aperture terminal (VSAT) technology and low Earth orbit (LEO) using flat-panel antennas. Cyber resilience has also been enhanced by application controls, web filtering, anti-virus software, firewalls, intrusion protection and unified threat management (UTM).

This upgrade comes after Croatia-headquartered Tankerska Plovidba became the controlling shareholder of Atlantska Plovidba at the end of 2024, which brought together a combined fleet of product tankers and bulk carriers.

“Just as Tankerska cares for its seafarers, we take care to ensure that our vessels are equipped with state-of-the-art technology for enhanced safety and environmental protection,” says Tankerska Plovidba management board member Ivan Pupovac.

“We are deploying technology that strengthens our fleet operations and supports our crews in their daily working lives on board ships.”
