On November 18, ZPMC and Far East Cable Co., Ltd., under the Far East Holding Group, officially signed a cooperation agreement for the construction project of a high-cable-capacity multi-purpose cable-laying vessel. This marks a substantial step forward in the strategic cooperation between the two major enterprises in the fields of offshore equipment and energy supporting facilities.

Zhang Jian, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of ZPMC, stated that as a leading global enterprise in the offshore equipment sector, ZPMC possesses a mature technological system and engineering experience in the research, development, and manufacturing of large vessels, as well as in supporting equipment for deep-sea and far-sea operations. The high-cable-capacity multi-purpose vessel project resulting from this cooperation is a significant achievement born from the precise alignment of market demands and the integration of both parties’ superior resources. ZPMC will establish a dedicated project team to strictly control quality and timelines throughout the entire process—from design and production to delivery—in accordance with the agreement, ensuring the on-time delivery of a high-quality vessel and supporting the enhancement of both parties’ competitiveness in the international offshore market with robust capabilities.

Chen Jing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Director, and CEO of the Cable Business Division of Far East Holding Group, stated that Far East has been deeply involved in the power energy and new energy sectors for 40 years, having established three core business matrices: Smart Cable Networks, Smart Batteries, and Smart Airports. The company has accumulated numerous proprietary core technologies, particularly in areas such as submarine cables and supporting energy facilities for deep-sea and far-sea applications.

She pointed out that this signing not only represents a deep integration of both parties’ businesses but also a crucial step for Far East in expanding into the international offshore market and deploying its deep-sea and far-sea industry strategy. In the future, Far East will further enhance its full-industry-chain capabilities in “submarine cable R&D – production – installation – operation and maintenance,” providing “Far East Solutions” for global deep-sea and far-sea resource development. Concurrently, Far East will set up a dedicated project coordination team to work efficiently with ZPMC on vessel construction details and subsequent operation and maintenance services, ensuring the vessel is delivered on time and quickly put into engineering application, thereby creating a model of cooperation.
