A country’s exports are one of the most important pillars for its economic development, as they enhance productivity, increase public revenues, and improve its competitiveness at an international level. Through access to larger or more markets, businesses gain the ability to expand their activities, innovate, and also create new jobs. At the same time, strong export activity strengthens the stability of the economy, contributing to its resilience against domestic and international challenges.

Regarding our country, and according to the analysis of the Panhellenic Exporters Association and the Center for Export Research and Studies (KEEM), based on the provisional data from ELSTAT, for the period between January-September 2025, the ten main export markets for Greece are (in descending order): Italy, Germany, Cyprus, Bulgaria, the USA, Romania, the United Kingdom, Spain, France, and the Netherlands.

But what is the value of these exports?

In the following list, the main export markets for Greece are listed according to the value of exports in billions of euros.

1. Italy €3.29 bil.

2. Germany €2.85 bil.

3. Cyprus €2.45 bil.

4. Bulgaria €2.25 bil.

5. USA €1.83 bil.

6. Romania €1.53 bil.

7. United Kingdom €1.49 bil.

8. Spain €1.21 bil.

9. France €1.18 bil.

10. Netherlands €0.99 bil.

Commenting on the above data, the President of the Panhellenic Exporters Association, Mr. Alkiviadis Kalamabokis, noted that: This specific nine-month period of 2025, compared to the nine-month period of 2024, highlights once again that the stable position and preference of Greek exporters towards EU countries is non-negotiable. The necessity for risk diversification and the further development of Greek exports will come from their increase to third countries. The dependence on the EU, which has been facing an economic crisis recently, will be smaller. The above depiction emphatically highlights that new markets and the opportunities they present will gradually lead to the reduction of our trade deficit”.
