On November 20, the “China Environmental Monitoring Min 001” (MW915-1), the first comprehensive marine environmental monitoring and law enforcement vessel in Fujian Province, meticulously built by Fujian Shipbuilding for the Fujian Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment, was officially commissioned. This marks a significant step forward in Fujian Province’s comprehensive capabilities in marine ecological environment monitoring, law enforcement, and scientific research, adding a powerful tool to protect Fujian’s “blue seas and silver beaches.”
Attending the ceremony were relevant leaders including: Xu Wei, Vice Director of the Fujian Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment; Jin Zuowen, Vice Director and Second-Level Inspector of the Taihu Basin & East China Sea Regional Ecology and Environment Supervision and Administration Bureau; Yang Kai, Vice Director of the National Marine Center; Zhu Hong, Second-Level Inspector of the Provincial Oceanic and Fisheries Bureau; Zhang Yan’an, Second-Level Inspector of the Fujian Maritime Safety Administration; Peng Yucheng, Director of the Fuzhou Coast Guard Bureau; and Huang Rutang, Member of the Party Committee, Vice General Manager of Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group Holding Co., Ltd., and Party Committee Secretary and Chairman of Fujian Shipbuilding.
The “China Environmental Monitoring Min 001” is the first comprehensive vessel in Fujian Province integrating multiple functions such as marine environmental monitoring, scientific research and investigation, supervision and law enforcement, emergency command, and science popularization. The vessel has a length of 55.20 meters, a beam of 10.30 meters, and a full load displacement of 956 tons, and is classed by the China Classification Society (CCS). Equipped with advanced monitoring equipment and a fidelity sampling system, the vessel possesses capabilities for comprehensive environmental monitoring in coastal waters, on-site rapid analysis, and emergency response. It can efficiently support marine ecological environment scientific research and law enforcement tasks, serving as a “mobile laboratory” and “environmental protection pioneer” in the waters under Fujian Province’s jurisdiction.
Beyond its core environmental monitoring and scientific research duties, the “China Environmental Monitoring Min 001” is entrusted with a broader social mission. As a comprehensive platform, it will also function for science popularization. By showcasing marine monitoring technology and environmental protection achievements to the public, it will become a dynamic classroom for disseminating marine environmental protection concepts and inspiring a sense of mission among the public to jointly build beautiful bays.
