The Colombian National Police made the largest seizure of cocaine in the last decade, following an operation in a port facility in Buenaventura.
The police force detailed that it was 14 tons of the narcotic that was found inside a container. The container was destined for the Netherlands, in Europe.
According to the institution, the drug was camouflaged by being mixed with plaster and, apparently, belonged to criminal groups linked to drug trafficking with a presence in Buenaventura. With this seizure, the circulation of 35 million doses of cocaine was prevented and an economic impact of more than 388.9 million dollars was achieved on the finances of the criminal structure.
The General Director of the National Police, William Rincón, commented that “the largest seizure of cocaine in the last decade was achieved. Approximately 14 tons of cocaine hydrochloride were seized in the Port of Buenaventura. This result reaffirms our commitment in the fight against drug trafficking and, of course, against criminal finances with effectiveness, police intelligence, and port control.”
“With this seizure, we prevented millions of doses from reaching international markets. Therefore, our National Police today and every day will continue working to protect Colombians and contribute to global security. The National Police does not stop in the fight against organized crime,” emphasized the General Director.
