DP World’s Jebel Ali Port handled a record 630,000 tonnes of breakbulk cargo in October 2025, marking the port’s highest monthly total in nearly twenty years.
According to the company, the increase follows sustained regional demand from industrial and construction sectors across the UAE and the wider Gulf.
Rising imports of iron and steel for major projects, including the Dubai Metro Blue Line and the expansion of DWC airport, as well as higher sugar exports, were among the main contributors.
The result builds on the port’s 2024 performance, when breakbulk volumes rose 23% year-on-year to 5.36 million metric tonnes. DP World said the trend highlights continued momentum in the UAE’s industrial activity and the country’s expanding role in global trade.
Breakbulk cargo, which includes heavy and oversized materials used in large construction and industrial projects, remains a core part of Jebel Ali’s operations. DP World stated that the port’s performance is supported by Jafza’s integrated ecosystem and the company’s global end-to-end logistics capabilities.
The company noted that the new record comes as Jebel Ali continues its transition into a multipurpose port with increasing volumes across containers, RoRo and bulk cargo. Recent peak figures include 1.41 million TEUs in December 2024, 103,226 RoRo units in April 2025 and 583,368 tonnes of bulk cargo in August 2025.
Jebel Ali Port is a DP World’s flagship port and a multipurpose facility handling containers, RoRo, bulk and breakbulk cargo. It operates within a wider logistics environment supported by Jafza.
