BEIJING, November 24 — According to China State Railway Group Co., Ltd., from January to October this year, China’s railways carried 3.95 billion passenger trips, a year-on-year increase of 6.4%, setting a new record high for the same period in history. Among these, on October 1, 23.132 million passenger trips were recorded, setting a new single-day record for railway passenger volume.
From January to October, a total of 2,049 tourist trains were operated nationwide, a year-on-year increase of 28.1%. Precisely aligning with local events, exhibitions, and cultural performances, customized “Fan Trains,” “Football Fan Trains,” and “Study Tour Trains” were operated to promote the development of service consumption.
More services have been continuously optimized and improved. Preferential (concessionary) ticket prices for student, child, and disabled soldier passengers on EMU trains are discounted based on the executed fare, allowing them to enjoy “discounts on top of discounts.” The “Railway Easy Travel” frequent traveler membership service has been upgraded; senior frequent traveler members aged 60 and above and young frequent traveler members aged 14 to 28 receive triple and double the points of regular frequent traveler members, respectively, when purchasing tickets and traveling. The Railway 12306 customer service center has added telephone booking services for group tickets, and the maximum number of tickets per purchase on the Railway 12306 app (including the website) has been increased to 19. The pilot service for high-speed rail pet托运 now covers 40 stations and 54 train services. The “Travel Light” service, which provides “door-to-station” and “station-to-door” same-city luggage搬运 services for passengers, is being piloted at 30 stations.
