On November 23, the vessel “Nadia,” fully loaded with 55,000 tons of Egyptian phosphate ore, completed unloading at the Longkou Port Area of Yantai Port, Shandong Port. After customs clearance, the cargo will be transported via the Delong-Yan Railway to a compound fertilizer processing enterprise in Shanxi. This marks the first time Shandong Port has handled the business of importing phosphate ore through foreign trade, signifying the successful implementation of the first business outcome from the Delong-Yan Railway Thousand-Mile Roadshow’s inaugural station stop in Taiyuan, Shanxi. It contributes Shandong Port’s strength to promoting the high-quality co-construction of the “Belt and Road” initiative.

As the core northern trunk line of Shandong’s “Four Vertical and Four Horizontal” railway network, the Delong-Yan Railway’s new cross-provincial sea-rail intermodal transport channel has been fully operational since June this year. It successfully links the five cities of Yantai, Weifang, Dongying, Binzhou, and Dezhou. Yantai Port is deeply exploring the channel potential of the Delong-Yan Railway to “unblock and straighten” the route, expanding channels by relying on this “artery.” It has successively developed clients from multiple provinces outside Shandong, including Inner Mongolia and Shanxi. The cross-provincial shipment volume has exceeded 1 million tons, with an average high-frequency shipment scale of 25 trains per week. This marks that this thousand-kilometer land-sea channel along the Yellow River, leading directly to the central and western regions, has entered a stage of normalized and stable operation, and is hailed as Shandong’s second “Jiaoji Railway.”

On November 4, the Delong-Yan Railway Thousand-Mile Roadshow successfully launched its first stop in Taiyuan, Shanxi. During exchanges, Yantai Port marketing personnel learned of a market need from a processing enterprise that urgently required transporting imported Egyptian phosphate ore to its factory in Shanxi. They immediately engaged in comprehensive对接 and in-depth communication with the client. Fully leveraging the advantages of the newly established local office, and considering the special properties of the phosphate ore cargo and the client’s production needs, they tailored a full-process, “butler-style” exclusive logistics solution for them. From discussing the logistics plan to the arrival of the first ship of phosphate ore at the port took only 16 days, allowing the central and western inland enterprise to enjoy port-forwarding services without leaving their premises, earning high recognition and trust from the client.

During the port operations for the “Nadia,” Yantai Port assigned dedicated personnel for full-process on-site monitoring, strictly adhered to refined operational standards for phosphate ore, established green dust-proof spray barriers, and continuously improved operational efficiency, ensuring the highly efficient unloading of the ship’s phosphate ore cargo with the highest standards and most practical measures.

Subsequently, Shandong Port will further smooth the communication and exchange mechanism with inland enterprises, innovate logistics models such as the “Single Document System” and inland ports, and set up offices in areas like Shanxi and Shaanxi. This will truly move the “seaport” to the “doorstep” of inland clients, transform the cooperative strength gathered through the “roadshow” into more tangible outcomes, and build the Delong-Yan Railway into a golden land-sea logistics channel that adds value across the entire chain and fosters win-win cooperation.
