Astilleros Gondán will build an offshore tug for Ostensjo Rederi, with delivery scheduled for the first quarter of 2028. The operation will be backed by a guarantee from PYMAR, according to a statement released by the shipyard.

The vessel will have a length of 50 meters, a maximum beam of 17 meters and a bollard pull of 150 tonnes. The company said the tug is designed to handle the “most demanding” offshore operations. Its “novel” configuration will allow towing both from the bow and the stern using a single high-power combined winch.

The tug will incorporate a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system and will be prepared to operate with methanol.

The project also includes measures aimed at crew welfare, offering high-standard accommodation for 14 people and noise-reduction features. These will be achieved with the integration of RIM Drive-type thrusters with permanent magnets, described by the company as having very low noise emissions to support comfortable working conditions even in adverse sea states.

Astilleros Gondán is a Spanish shipbuilding company operating as a private industrial shipyard based in the Asturias region. It specializes in constructing vessels for offshore services, maritime transport, and other commercial marine segments, working for international shipowners under contract.

Ostensjo Rederi is a Norwegian maritime operator registered as a shipping company. It manages a fleet that serves sectors such as offshore energy, terminal operations, and marine services, contracting vessels internationally.
