FrontM is expanding the deployment of its Loft Kiosk, a touch enabled onboard hub designed to modernise communication, training and crew support. The company says the system is helping shipowners strengthen safety culture and bring more structure to digital operations. Adoption is rising as fleets look for simple ways to improve the daily experience of seafarers.

FrontM has widened the rollout of its Loft Kiosk infotainment solution, positioning it as a practical answer to long standing communication challenges on board. The company announced the expansion from London on 24 November, highlighting the growing pressure on fleets to improve the way information is shared with crews.

With almost two million seafarers working globally and training often described as poorly timed or detached from daily demands, shipowners have struggled to keep communication consistent. Much of it still moves through a single computer on the bridge, creating delays and limiting visibility for crew members who need clear guidance.

The Loft Kiosk aims to replace scattered noticeboards and disconnected systems with a unified digital hub. It combines specialised hardware, a content management system, a managed programming service and integration points that link learning, communication and operational tools. FrontM says the intention is to give crews easier access to information while helping management teams maintain a structured flow of content across the fleet.

The kiosk also connects with other FrontM tools such as Loft Meetings for low bandwidth video conferencing, Loft Events for streaming shore based sessions and Loft Multiplex for live news. The company describes it as a way to strengthen the connection between ship and shore without adding new workloads for the crew.

Kiran Venkatesh, Chief Executive Officer of FrontM, said the company sees the kiosk becoming a central fixture on board. “Our vision is for Loft Kiosk to become the industry’s preferred vessel user interface, the digital heart of the ship communications system. A solution that is more than just another tool, but an ecosystem gateway that connects people, processes and data in one seamless experience. Crews gain visibility, shipowners gain intelligence and the entire operation becomes more connected and resilient.”

Punit Oza, Executive Advisor at FrontM, said the segment has been searching for a unified digital platform. “The maritime industry has been searching for a single platform that unites crew welfare, operational data and communication. Loft Kiosk delivers exactly that, a mature, scalable solution that transforms the way ships communicate, learn and operate.”

FrontM says shipowners are adopting the system at scale, drawn to the managed service approach and the tangible effects on crew wellbeing and operational clarity. Executives believe the growth reflects a wider recognition that stronger digital foundations onboard can directly support safer and more engaged crews.
