Hyundai Merchant Marine orders eight dual-fuel container ships

The ships will be built in South Korea and delivered by 2029

Eight 13,400 teu dual-fuel container ships that can be powered by liquefied natural gas. They will be built by two subsidiaries of the South Korean group HD Hyundai for the compatriot company HMM (Hyundai Merchant Marine). The total value of the order is 1.46 billion dollars, divided as follows: 1.1 billion for HD Hyundai Samho Co. which will build six of these ships, while a second order worth 363 million dollars is destined for HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. and relates to the construction of the other two ships.

The first order provides for the delivery of the new container ships by April 2029. The other two naval units from the second order will instead be ready by mid-July 2028. Overall, this is the largest container ship order received by Hd Hyundai since 2007.
