To thoroughly implement the national “Transport Power” strategic deployment, reduce social logistics costs, smooth the domestic and international dual circulation, and promote the integrated development of ports, shipping, and trade, a port logistics promotion conference themed “Ganzhou-Xiamen Linkage, Land and Sea Shared Prosperity” was recently held in Ganzhou, Jiangxi. The event attracted guest representatives from fields including ports, railways, shipping, logistics, and manufacturing.
At the promotion conference, key core units of the “Land-Port-Railway” chain, including the Ganzhou Municipal People’s Government, Xiamen Port Authority, China Railway Nanchang Bureau Group, and Xiamen Port Holding Group, expressed that they will promote the participation of more resource elements in deepening the cooperation between Ganzhou and Xiamen Port. Through practical measures such as sea-rail intermodal transport connectivity, port functional coordination, and improving logistics transport organization efficiency, they aim to help enterprises reduce costs and increase efficiency, and serve the high-quality development of the export-oriented economy in the Jiangxi-Fujian region.
Xiamen Container Terminal Group, Ganzhou International Land Port Development Group, SITC Container Lines Xiamen Branch, Xiamen Pena, Cosco Shipping Lines Jiangxi, and Ganzhou Xingbang Furniture made thematic presentations and speeches on cooperation prospects. This promotion conference yielded fruitful results. The Xiamen Port Authority and the Ganzhou International Land Port Management Committee reached a strategic cooperation, marking a new stage of institutionalized and normalized cooperation between the two ports. Both sides will share resources, complement advantages, and innovatively carry out the dual-hub linkage model of “Sea Port + Land Port”. Through measures like sea-rail intermodal transport connectivity, port functional coordination, logistics network interconnection, and digital platform interoperability, they will create an open pattern and logistics channel characterized by “internal and external linkage, two-way mutual reinforcement”.
The Ganzhou-Xiamen Two-Port Cooperation Office was inaugurated, establishing a departmental coordination mechanism between the two ports to promote the implementation of cooperative matters and advance cooperation to deeper levels and broader fields.
The inland container return point of SITC Container Lines Co., Ltd. at Ganzhou International Land Port was officially activated. Inland customers can now pick up and return containers directly at the Ganzhou Port yard, effectively reducing land transport costs and scheduling complexity, and further enhancing the convenience of the Ganzhou-Xiamen logistics channel.
In recent years, Xiamen Port has used sea-rail intermodal transport as an important tool to continuously optimize the logistics structure, reduce supply chain costs, efficiently connect inland enterprises with the global market, and inject vigorous momentum into promoting the domestic and international dual circulation. It has currently formed a sea-rail intermodal transport channel network with Xiamen Port as the main hub, Fujian and Jiangxi provinces as the main hinterland, extending inward to cover the central and western regions, and radiating outward to Southeast Asia and other regions.
According to statistics, from January to October 2025, Xiamen Port completed a total sea-rail intermodal transport business volume of 133,100 TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 24.64%. From January to October this year, the Ganzhou-Xiamen Port sea-rail intermodal transport business volume reached 12,886 TEUs.
Relevant personnel from Xiamen Port stated that the deepened cooperation between Xiamen Port and Ganzhou International Land Port will further promote the inward shift of seaport functions and the outward extension of land port services, drive the quality improvement and upgrade of Xiamen Port’s sea-rail intermodal transport, expand Xiamen Port’s economic hinterland, increase cargo and container volume, and enhance Xiamen Port’s competitiveness within the southeastern coastal port cluster.
The successful hosting of this promotion event has built a new high-level platform for port, shipping, and trade cooperation for economic and trade exchanges between Fujian and Jiangxi. In the future, Xiamen Port Holding Group will further smooth the logistics channel between the two places, promote the inward shift of seaport functions, foster synergistic linkage between the central region and the coastal economy, and contribute port strength to creating an open pattern and logistics channel characterized by “internal and external linkage, two-way mutual reinforcement”.
