Shenyang, November 26 (China News Network) (Reporter Yu Haiyang) On November 25, with a long whistle, the X8059 train, marshaled with 55 cars and fully loaded with 1,400 tons of goods including household appliances, clothing, and elevator parts, slowly departed from the China-Europe Railway Express (Shenyang) Consolidation Center bound for Moscow. With this departure, the total number of round-trip trains operated by this consolidation center has exceeded 2,230, fully highlighting its important position as a core logistics hub in Northeast China and making it a beautiful name card for the region’s deep integration into the Belt and Road Initiative construction.

The China-Europe Railway Express (Shenyang) Consolidation Center was officially put into operation in 2023. Over the past two years, it has transported over 220,000 TEUs of goods, served more than 2,000 domestic and foreign enterprises, with an average annual import and export value exceeding $200 million. The number of train trips has steadily ranked first in Northeast China. In 2024, the number of return trains at this center reached a record high, marking the gradual formation of a “mutually beneficial situation” for foreign trade promoted by the China-Europe Railway Express. On October 14, the number of round-trip trains operated by this consolidation center surpassed 2,000.

Wang Dong, General Manager of the China-Europe Railway Express (Shenyang) Consolidation Center, stated that the operational scale of the Center has successfully driven the agglomeration of enterprises in cross-border e-commerce, high-end manufacturing, and other sectors in Shenyang, promoting the deep integration of industrial and supply chains. In the first 10 months of this year, the export of local specialty products via the trains saw significant year-on-year growth, while efficiently transporting high-quality overseas goods back, achieving smooth two-way trade.

Currently, the China-Europe Railway Express (Shenyang) Consolidation Center has a storage capacity for 2,600 standard container slots and can meet the operational demands of 1,500 China-Europe Railway Express trains annually. It has realized a development pattern of “one train driving, multiple cities联动, and multimodal transport.” It has now established transport channels connecting six major ports including Manzhouli and Suifenhe, with a network covering more than 50 cities in over 20 countries such as Russia and Germany. Its cargo sources radiate across the three Northeastern provinces and economic core areas like Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and the Yangtze River Delta, carrying over 5,000 types of commodities, and building a stable cross-border logistics supply chain.

It is worth mentioning that this year, the China-Europe Railway Express (Shenyang) Consolidation Center achieved a record high of 9 round-trip trains in a single day, realizing leapfrog growth. This is attributed to the continuous hardware upgrades of the hub by China Railway Shenyang Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as China Railway Shenyang Bureau). By optimizing the yard layout and upgrading /unloading equipment, the consolidation center’s storage capacity and operational efficiency have been simultaneously enhanced.

Meanwhile, to improve the transit efficiency of the China-Europe Railway Express, China Railway Shenyang Bureau relies on its self-developed railway logistics information platform to achieve real-time data sharing between customs, railways, and enterprises, increasing customs clearance efficiency by over 50%. The trains take approximately 12 days to reach Russia, which is three times faster than sea transport, with costs only one-fifth of air freight. Particularly, the premium “Shenyang-Bely Rast” China-Europe Railway Express service, first launched in August this year, takes only 10 days to reach Moscow, achieving efficient direct “hub-to-hub” connectivity both domestically and internationally.

As the only national-level China-Europe Railway Express consolidation center in Northeast China, its development directly benefits nearly a hundred enterprises. In the future, China Railway Shenyang Bureau will continue to densify the Eurasia logistics network, continuously enhance Shenyang’s radiating capacity as a logistics node in Northeast Asia, and contribute railway strength to building a new development pattern and promoting the comprehensive revitalization of Northeast China.
