The Deputy Minister of the Mit participated in the 34th Imo general assembly held in London

In London, Edoardo Rixi spoke at the 34th Imo (International Maritime Organization) general assembly on the subject of the ETS. “Italy’s position on the ETS is clear: to prevent the ecological transition from becoming an obstacle to global trade – emphasized the Deputy Minister of the Mit -. As it is conceived, it risks becoming a real wall to trade, capable of penalizing European ports and fleets and shifting traffic and investments towards areas of the world that do not apply the same constraints. We cannot afford to fragment the market with regional measures that create distortions and put the European port system in difficulty just as we are pushing for sustainability. The transition must be guided by global, shared, and truly effective rules, not by isolated initiatives that end up weakening those who apply them. Italy, with its maritime history, its infrastructure, and the commitment of the Coast Guard – concluded Rixi -, has the credentials to continue to make a decisive contribution to the work of the Imo and to promote a balanced, pragmatic, and competitive vision for the future of maritime transport”.
