MEDLOG, the global logistics operator and part of the MSC Group of companies, signed a concession agreement to operate the Pangaon Inland Container Terminal (PICT) near Dhaka, according to MSC Group.

This project is presented as a way to enhance inland supply chain connectivity, ease cargo flows and support both local communities and broader industrial growth in Bangladesh. MSC positions the move within its wider terminal and inland logistics portfolio. The group notes that it serves over 500 ports, invests in more than 100 terminals worldwide and operates a significant number of inland terminals through MEDLOG.

MSC CEO Soren Toft said: “As a world leader in container shipping, serving over 500 ports and investing in more than 100 terminals globally as well as operating a significant number of inland terminals through MEDLOG, the MSC Group brings with it a unique understanding of how cargo ecosystems evolve and thrive. Our investment in the Pangaon Inland Container Terminal reflects our belief that Bangladesh has the potential to become one of South Asia’s major gateways for regional and global trade.”

The PICT facility is located near the capital Dhaka on the Buriganga River and close to the high-speed Dhaka–Mawa–Bhanga Expressway.

Under the new concession, MEDLOG will be responsible for operations, supply and automation at PICT. The operator plans to apply its global experience and technology to optimise inland logistics at the site. MEDLOG also intends to expand the terminal’s facilities to support growing trade volumes, with a stated target of annual handling capacity of 160,000 TEUs. To reinforce multimodal connectivity, MEDLOG plans to charter inland barges from PICT to connect Pangaon with other river terminals and seaports.
