The Port Authority of Vigo has been awarded the Clúster Marítimo Español – Federico Esteve 2025 prize in the international projection category, consolidating its position as one of the most important ports in the world. These awards, which bear the name of Federico Esteve, former president of the CME and member of the Real Academia del Mar, recognize the commitment of companies and institutions in the sector that make a difference in various strategic areas of the industry with the aim of continuing to contribute innovations.
The Port Authority of Vigo has been awarded in the international projection category, having been a pioneer in the implementation of the Blue Growth strategy, as well as an example for the European Commission in its annual reports. Carlos Botana, president of the port of Vigo, collected the award and highlighted several aspects such as that “there are recognitions that create a special excitement and this is one of them for several reasons: who gives it and why,” stated a Botana who referred to the role played by the port of Vigo in fishing. “Today, the whole world talks about responsible and sustainable fishing and about the role of Vigo and Spain worldwide,” affirmed the president of the Port Authority who finally wanted to highlight the figure of Javier Garat “the greatest and best ambassador of fishing and the Blue Economy.”
