The Association Broens Venner is fighting to preserve the old Great Belt ferry Broen, which is located in the ferry lane dock in Halsskov Ferry Port. The ferry is currently owned by Sund & Bælt, which has bought Halsskov Ferry Port including the ferry from Slagelse Municipality.
On Wednesday, the association appeared before the Parliament’s Culture Committee, in an attempt to gain support for a plan to make the ferry worthy of preservation. If successful, scrapping the ferry would no longer be an option.
“It is Korsør’s DNA that is at stake,” says Troels Christensen from the Storebæltslisten to /Øst.
“We hope that the Culture Committee can be convinced that Denmark’s last Great Belt ferry should not end up as scrap metal in an Indian port,” he says to the television station.
