The first call at La Spezia Container Terminal by the MV One Friendship, in recent days, marked the first port of call of the renewed MD2 service in the Gulf of Poets.

The loop has indeed just returned to include the La Spezia terminal in its rotation, guaranteeing a further direct connection between the main ports of Asia and the quays of Fornelli pier, and confirming what for the Premiere Alliance is the centrality of La Spezia within the east-west routes in the Mediterranean.

“The quay operations took place as scheduled, with the vessel casting off the day after the call, resuming its route towards the Far East. As per tradition, before departure, a commemorative crest was presented to the Master Costel Mircea, in the presence of Vincenzo De Riccardis, Operations Director and Stretti Andrea, Planning Manager of Lsct, Marcello Di Francesco, Shipping Agent and Sergio Landolfi, Operations Office Manager of Saimare,” explained a note from the terminal operator.

Flying the flag of Hong Kong, the MV One Friendship can count on a nominal capacity of 15,250 TEU, and is among the most modern units employed within the service’s fleet, operated jointly with another partner of the Premier Alliance.

“The inclusion of the La Spezia terminal in the MD2 rotation confirms its strategic role as a reference gateway in the competitive North Tyrrhenian scenario. We have always aimed to consolidate ourselves as a driver of reliability and flexibility, supporting global supply chains. Furthermore, our broad offering of integrated services, which includes intermodal solutions and value-added services, is fundamental,” commented Peter Robino, Head of Commercial Maritime of Contship.
