The BCN Port Innovation Foundation has celebrated a new edition of its Partners Forum, the semi-annual meeting that brings together the companies and organizations that are part of its ecosystem to share progress, experiences, and lines of work that drive the transformation of the port of Barcelona. The day was preceded by the meeting of the Foundation’s board of trustees, in which the year-end closure was approved and the strategic proposal for 2026 was presented. This space has made it possible to align objectives and establish the priorities that will mark the new stage.
The Forum began with an address by Catalina Grimalt, general director of the BCN Port Innovation Foundation, who reviewed the current state of the foundation, the main lines of action, and the progress of the Circulars and RegenPorts programs. During her speech, she emphasized the strength of joint work, stating that “when things are done well and as a team, it shows. Together we are driving a more agile, efficient, and sustainable logistics, and this is already translating into tangible results in the port.”
Next, some of these results were presented, such as the ‘drone-as-a-service’ service, for which the Port has recently adopted its drone nest for automated operations, and the Smart Terminal project, which continues to expand operational management and process digitalization capabilities. Michel André, an international reference in marine bioacoustics, also spoke, explaining the importance of the ocean’s soundscape and the key role of people in contributing to the reduction of noise pollution and protecting marine biodiversity.
“Sound, acoustic perception, is the only sense that we share with all living beings on this planet. Being able to measure that sound, understanding its importance, is a way to follow the course of nature.” The day was closed by Míriam Alaminos, deputy general manager of Economic-Financial, Strategy and Corporate Management of the port of Barcelona, who highlighted the strategic support of the port of Barcelona for the Foundation, both from a structural point of view and one of shared vision. Furthermore, she concluded by emphasizing that “the commitment of the partners is a collective bet to improve the environment and we are deeply grateful for their support,” calling for continued efforts to keep promoting projects with impact.
With this meeting, the Foundation reinforces its commitment to a collaborative and results-oriented model, which turns innovation with a purpose into an engine of transformation for the Port and its surroundings.
