news, Italian shipowner d’Amico International Shipping (hereinafter referred to as “d’Amico”) announced on November 7 that it has signed an agreement to sell one MR tanker, actively advancing its fleet renewal work.
Specifically, d’Amico Tankers, the Irish-based operating division of the d’Amico group, has signed an agreement to sell the 47,200 dwt MR tanker “Glenda Meryl”, built in 2011 at HD Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, to an unrelated third party for $19.5 million. Delivery is expected by the end of December 2025.
d’Amico stated that this transaction is expected to generate approximately $14.5 million in cash after deducting commissions and outstanding bank debt.
d’Amico CEO Carlos Balestra di Mottola said, “This sale, following the disposal of two sister vessels earlier this year, further reduces the average age of the d’Amico fleet.”
He added, “This sale is another key step in the strategy of operating a modern and fuel-efficient fleet, supporting both d’Amico’s sustainability goals and profitability.”
Upon completion of this sale, d’Amico will operate a fleet of 30 product tankers, comprising 28 owned vessels and 2 chartered-in on a bareboat basis. The average age of its owned and bareboat chartered fleet will be approximately 9.7 years.
