Yesterday morning, the Port Authority of Eleusis was informed of an incident involving the partial sinking of a Passenger-Scheduled (P/S) vessel which was moored in the marine area of Vlycha, Eleusis.
Immediately, personnel from the Central Port Authority of Eleusis went to the location, where they ascertained that the vessel had partially sunk, having run aground in shallow waters, with no passengers on board. No marine pollution was observed from the incident.
The Central Port Authority of Eleusis, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, informed the vessel-owning company so that it could arrange for the immediate pumping out of the water and the deployment of a floating barrier around the perimeter of the vessel, for preventive reasons. Concurrently, the 41-year-old domestic representative of the company is being sought, in the context of a flagrante delicto procedure.
