Change at the top of Trieste Terminal Passeggeri, the concessionaire for the management of the Stazione Marittima and support services for passenger traffic in the port of Trieste, 40% owned by the Eastern Adriatic Sea Port System Authority and the remaining 60% by Trieste Adriatic Maritime Initiatives – Tami, controlled by MSC Cruises and Costa Cruises with 44.37% each and by Assicurazioni Generali (11.26%).
The assembly appointed Marco Consalvo, the new president of the AdSP, as chairman.
The assembly also renewed the board of directors of Trieste Terminal Passeggeri, entrusting the presidency to Consalvo and confirming Franco Mariani in the role of chief executive officer, to guarantee the company’s operational continuity. The new Board of Directors also includes Luigi Merlo, Roberto Ferrarini and Guido Bortoluzzi. The assembly also appointed Alberto Grimaldi as general manager.
During the meeting, the financial statements as of December 31, 2025 were approved, closing with a net profit of 3.2 million euros, against total revenues of approximately 11.1 million euros. In 2025, the company managed a total of 455,469 passengers and 131 ship calls, confirming its economic solidity even in a phase of volume reduction and the presence of the main international cruise companies in Trieste.
For 2026, approximately 130 ship calls are currently expected, with the presence of the main companies active in the sector, including Costa Cruises, MSC Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, Holland America Line, Tui Cruises, Marella Uk, Royal Caribbean International and others, with both home port and transit activities. The schedule will be characterized mainly by medium-sized ships and the luxury segment. While the number of calls remains stable compared to the previous year, the presence of smaller units will lead to a slight reduction in the total number of passengers.
Prospects for 2027, however, indicate a recovery with approximately 136 scheduled landings, the return of larger ships and a consequent increase in the total number of visitors.
Consalvo thanked the outgoing Board of Directors and President Gianluca Madriz for the important work carried out and the results achieved, emphasizing that: “The cruise sector represents a significant segment for the port of Trieste and for the local economy and today requires an even more structured management between planning, services and flows. The objective is to ensure a clear direction and a unified vision on the evolution of passenger traffic, accompanying the sector towards increasingly sustainable development, integrated with the urban context and coordinated with the dynamics of other Adriatic ports”.
In this context, the Eastern Adriatic Sea Port System Authority has already planned targeted interventions, including the extraordinary maintenance of the Molo Bersaglieri (3 million euros) and its electrification (approximately 11 million euros), whose completion is expected by next June.
