China News Service, Dongguan, May 7 (Reporter Guo Jun, Lan Tong) The new “one-container” model for sea export of lithium batteries from Dongguan to Shenzhen completed its first shipment on May 7. From now on, eligible Dongguan lithium battery products, after inspection at their “doorstep,” can be shipped directly in the same container to Yantian Port in Shenzhen for loading onto vessels. It is estimated that this model can save approximately 20,000 RMB in logistics costs per container and reduce overall logistics time by over 20%.

On the same day, a batch of containers loaded with lithium battery products departed from Dongguan. After about 90 minutes by truck, they arrived at Yantian Port in Shenzhen and were directly hoisted onto the vessel “MORTEN MAERSK” for shipment to overseas markets. This marks the official entry of the Dongguan-Shenzhen “one-container” model for lithium battery sea export into normal operation, adding another important institutional innovation achievement to facilitate cross-border trade in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

As a globally significant lithium battery production base, Dongguan has strong demand for lithium battery product exports. According to the Dongguan Maritime Safety Administration, this service is expected to serve over 400 lithium battery manufacturers in Dongguan, helping approximately 28,000 containers to be efficiently shipped out via Yantian Port.

Yantian Port is one of the world’s largest single-terminal container ports, handling a cumulative container throughput of 16.109 million TEUs in 2025, with over 100 weekly routes connecting to the globe.

The newly implemented “one-container” model was jointly launched by the maritime authorities of Dongguan and Yantian. The maritime departments, in collaboration with customs, commerce, and government data departments, have opened up data interfaces. Statutory documents such as the dangerous goods packaging certificate now enable cross-departmental data sharing and online verification. Enterprises can achieve “one-time entry, multiple reuse,” eliminating the need to repeatedly submit paper materials, significantly improving the efficiency of the entire process.

Currently, the “one-container” model applies to lithium battery production and export enterprises on the whitelist. Enterprises can learn about the specific application procedures and pilot conditions from the Dongguan Maritime Safety Administration. (End)
