Recently, Yang Zheng, General Manager of the Shanghai Branch of China Classification Society (CCS), led a team to visit the Shanghai Electrical Apparatus Research Institute (Group) Co., Ltd. (referred to as “SEARI”). The two parties focused on core technologies in ship electrification and the layout of national strategic emerging industries, reaching a consensus on the joint construction of an inspection and certification service system. This visit marks that the two sides will leverage standard-setting leadership and industrial service collaboration to provide solid technical support for the high-quality development of China’s shipbuilding industry and the maritime power strategy.

During the discussion, Wu Yehua, Chairman of SEARI, pointed out that SEARI will rely on its multi-platform advantages in strategic emerging industries to deeply integrate with the Shanghai Branch. This is especially true in key technical areas of the shipbuilding industry chain, such as components, energy storage, and power distribution, where a new service model of “one-stop” and even “one test, multiple certificates” will be implemented, aiming to jointly lower the threshold for Chinese enterprises to “go global” and strongly support the maritime strategy.

Yang Zheng stated that serving the construction of a maritime power is the core mission of CCS. The current focus is on promoting the continuous improvement of the inspection and certification system for key equipment and systems, particularly in areas such as electrification, and forming a synergy with leading industry institutions like SEARI to provide efficient and high-quality technical services for the entire industry chain.

After the symposium, CCS issued the “Product Inspection and Testing Institution Accreditation Certificate” to SEARI. The accredited testing scope has been expanded from traditional ship electrical products to include new core products such as new energy lithium batteries and photovoltaics. The two parties agreed to continue deepening joint research on industry standards and technical collaboration, providing comprehensive solutions for the transformation and upgrading of the shipbuilding industry.
