On May 8, the second 82,000-ton bulk carrier invested and built by Fujian Shipping Group officially commenced construction at Jiangsu Haitong Marine. This marks another important milestone in the Group’s efforts to optimize its fleet structure and enhance transport capacity. Dong Bin, member of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of Fujian Shipping Group, Huang Siyi, member of the Party Committee, and Chen Liying, Deputy Director of the Port Group Office, attended the ceremony as witnesses.

The 82,000-ton bulk carrier now under construction is the second newbuilding project launched by Fujian Shipping Group following the first vessel of the same type. The vessel meets the latest Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) Phase III requirements of the International Maritime Organization and features notable characteristics of “low carbon, energy saving, safety, and environmental protection.” Through optimized hull lines and matching with high-efficiency propellers, the vessel’s average daily fuel consumption at full load speed is significantly reduced compared to traditional ship types, greatly improving operational economy.

Currently, the first 82,000-ton bulk carrier is undergoing block assembly on the slipway, with all work progressing steadily as planned. After the series of vessels are delivered successively, they will further strengthen Fujian Shipping Group’s owned fleet capacity advantage, enhance its service capability and resilience against cyclical fluctuations in the global shipping market, and provide solid support for ensuring the safety of important strategic material transport routes and facilitating trade along the “Belt and Road.”

Leveraging the locational advantages of Fujian as the core area of the Maritime Silk Road, Fujian Shipping Group is accelerating the development of a green, intelligent, and efficient new fleet. In the next step, Fujian Shipping Group will continue to uphold the business philosophy of “safety, efficiency, and win-win cooperation,” deepen cooperation with upstream and downstream partners in the industrial chain, and play an active role in ensuring the smooth flow of maritime logistics chains and promoting the green development of shipping.
