On May 6, the second ultra-large tonnage, large-span gantry crane for Wison Clean Energy’s Qidong Base, manufactured by Weihua Ocean, began lifting.
This is a core lifting equipment custom-designed by Wison Offshore & Marine for high-end offshore engineering equipment production conditions, with a total self-weight of over 7,200 tons. The equipment officially commenced construction on September 8, 2025, and took 8 months.
According to reports, the 2400-ton-200-meter single-main-girder gantry crane has significant performance advantages and rich operational functions, capable of various operation modes such as single lifting, double-hook tandem lifting, three-hook tandem lifting, four-hook tandem lifting, and aerial turnover of hull sections. It demonstrates outstanding capability particularly in section turnover and assembly operations, fully meeting the complex production needs of high-end offshore engineering equipment.
The 2400-ton-200-meter single-main-girder gantry crane is arranged on the same track with two 2×600t upper trolleys and one 50t lower trolley. The upper and lower trolleys can traverse through each other, with a maximum tandem lifting capacity of 2400 tons across the entire main girder (trolley spacing ≥50m), effectively ensuring the stability and safety of heavy-load operations. The gantry crane track span reaches 200 meters.
Previously, the 1200-ton gantry crane for Wison Clean Energy’s Qidong Base, manufactured by Weilong Ocean, completed its heavy-load test in March this year. The equipment has a rated lifting capacity of 1200 tons and a track span of 180 meters. The commissioning of this gantry crane will fill the gap in heavy lifting capacity, supporting the base’s production target of 2-3 medium-to-large Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) units per year and an annual steel processing capacity of 250,000 tons.
In the future, the 1200-ton and 2400-ton gantry cranes at Wison Clean Energy’s Qidong Base will jointly complete the lifting, transportation, and assembly operations of hulls and offshore sections.
As an important part of Wison Clean Energy’s strategic investment layout, the Qidong Base is positioned for the construction and integration of large floating facilities and modules. The project plans a total investment of 9 billion yuan, covering 1,685 mu of land, with supporting construction of one 80,000-ton-class outfitting wharf and one offshore dock measuring 520 meters long and 90 meters wide. The overall planning and design were completed by China Shipbuilding NDRI Engineering Co., Ltd.
The project commenced full construction in February 2025, held a trial production commencement ceremony in January this year, officially transitioning into the production and operation phase, and is scheduled for full completion and commissioning in June. Upon completion, the Qidong Base will produce 2-3 FLNG units annually, significantly enhancing Wison’s full industry chain integration capabilities and green, large-scale, and intelligent construction strength in the clean energy field, particularly for large floating energy production units (FPSO) and modular devices and other high-end offshore engineering equipment.
Wison Clean Energy’s Qidong Base is located at the East Dock Basin of Lvsi Port, 98 kilometers from Wison’s Shanghai headquarters and only 85 kilometers from the Nantong floating facility construction base. The three locations form a stable triangular support, providing convenience for efficient management and execution throughout the project’s full lifecycle. Wison Clean Energy will fully leverage the unique geographical location and natural conditions of Lvsi Port to build the Wison Qidong Base into an internationally competitive high-end offshore engineering equipment production base integrating large hull and module construction, integration, and commissioning.
